Become Part of Our Dedicated Team!
Hello Human,
We are the Kita am Alex of MAHALO gGmbH — a place for diversity, participation, and vibrant educational work in the heart of Berlin.
At our daycare center, we follow an open-concept approach: children move independently between different activity and learning spaces, explore their interests, and actively shape their everyday experiences. To ensure this happens within a safe, mindful, and well-coordinated environment, we are currently looking for an early childhood educator — preferably with an additional qualification as an Integration Specialist — to take on the unique role of our so-called “Hallway Guide.”
The “Hallway Guide” is a key figure within our open-concept framework: present, connecting, guiding, and supportive — equally for children, parents, and the team.
Your Responsibilities as a “Hallway Guide”
- Coordinating and supporting the educational daily routine within the open-concept environment
- Maintaining an overview of the different learning spaces and their occupancy
- Supporting and coordinating team members within the respective rooms
- Serving as a contact person for children moving between spaces
- Providing social and emotional support to children throughout the day
- Offering guidance and support during transitions and everyday situations
- Sensitively recognizing needs, conflicts, and group dynamics
- Acting as a point of contact within the team for organizational or spontaneous needs
- Supporting daily operations (“seeing what needs to be done”)
- Assisting during drop-off and pick-up situations
- Building trusting and approachable relationships with parents through informal conversations
- Helping shape an inclusive, participatory, and respectful atmosphere
What You Should Bring
- A completed qualification as a state-recognized educator, social pedagogue, childhood educator, or a comparable qualification
- Ideally, an additional qualification as an Integration Specialist
- Experience with or interest in open-concept education and inclusive pedagogy
- Strong presence, observational skills, and organizational abilities
- Enjoyment in building relationships and connecting people
- Empathy, calmness, and confidence in dynamic situations
- Respectful communication with children, parents, and colleagues
- Openness toward diversity, different life realities, and teamwork
- Motivation to contribute ideas and support ongoing development
What We Offer
- A respectful, diverse, and interdisciplinary team
- Flat hierarchies and transparent communication
- Space for your own ideas and active participation
- Regular professional training and development opportunities
- Supervision and coaching
- Weekly team meetings
- Dedicated preparation and follow-up time
- 31 vacation days as a base
- Additional days off and attractive benefits
- Fresh vegetarian organic meals
- Modern, bright facilities and a large outdoor area
- Meaningful work with plenty of creative freedom
- And of course: fantastic children and a pretty good sense of humor
